Gubernur DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung saat meninjau kios UMKM di Blok M, Rabu (3/9)

Pramono Receives Appreciation for Handling MSME Complaints in Blok M

Jakarta Legislative Council Commission B Member, Dwi Rio Sambodo, appreciated the quick response of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, who directly went to the Blok M area to handle the complaints of traders and MSMEs regarding the unilateral increase in kiosk fees.

BUMD should be the drivers of the people's economy

According to him, the governor's action refers to the government's support for MSMEs, which have long been the backbone of the people's economy.

"This case also opened our eyes that the mechanism for managing business spaces in public areas still requires more transparency and tighter oversight," he expressed, Friday (9/5).

He assessed, the increase in kiosk rental fees set by the cooperative without control indicates weak regulation and oversight. Therefore, the council will push for a comprehensive audit and evaluation of the management of kiosk rentals in public spaces, including MRT areas, terminals, stations, and markets.

"I encourage the Jakarta government and BUMD such as MRT Jakarta and Pasar Jaya to establish a fair rent control mechanism. Rental rates should consider the scale of the business and the vendors' ability, not be burdened with commercialization patterns like shopping malls. BUMD should be the drivers of the people's economy, not just pursuing profit," he asserted.

He then proposed a special quota for local MSMEs in commercial spaces owned by the Jakarta Government and BUMD. His support includes offering lower rental rates, more definite contract durations, and assistance facilities for digitalization and promotion.

"By so, they not only survive but also can advance to the next level," he added.

He emphasized that commercial spaces at public transportation hubs should be considered part of the people's economic ecosystem, not just profit-oriented business spaces.

"Local MSMEs must become a priority so that Jakarta is not only physically modern but also economically fair," he said.
